Let's do some coding! This will be an in-depth look at, hands-on approach to several apps used to teach coding to young students. We will look at Scratch Jr, Hopscotch, and ALEX as tools to get kids engaged with coding. Strategies will be discussed on how to then implement these skills/products into other areas of the curriculum.

This session is intended to provide insight on the qualities of an effective 1:1 program by describing the strategies, struggles and successes of the 1:1 iPad program, known as One to World at Korea International School between 2012 and 2015. The session tracks the progression from proposal through to launch, detailing keys aspects of the partnerships formed between teachers, administration and parents - and how this in turn created a platform for classroom change. Finally, we will also share some of the technical aspects of the program that helped to make One to World a success. Presented by members of the team who proposed, developed and supported One to World. Audience: Teachers, coaches, and administrators working in or starting a 1:1 program

Google Apps on the iPad

The power of Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Sites and Discussions can all be unlocked using an iPad. With recent app improvements for the iPad, Google Apps are now more powerful than ever. Google Apps traditionally thought only powerful on a laptop or desktop can be used to great advantage on an iPad. Classroom management, sharing of resources, collaboration, communication and discussions are accessible through these apps on the iPad.

Session activities will include:

• Folders - helping students with organisation and sharing of resources
• Docs - supporting literacy development
• Sheets - inputting data for collaboration
• Sites - discussions
• Sites - as a Learning Journal (ePortfolio)
